Gus opens by talking about the devastating floods in south central Texas where the waters of the Guadalupe River rose over 20 feet in less than a half-hour, killing over 80 people and wiped out at Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ summer. Over two dozen of them were killed and several are still missing. Gus asks listeners what would they say to somebody who asked them, where was God in all this?
Later, Gus provides some Pope Leo XIV news, including his childhood home in Dolton, Illinois being purchased by the town. The sale price was not disclosed, but it was on the market before his election with an asking price of $246,000 but was taken down after he was named the first American pope. Gus also talks about Pope Leo’s monthly prayer intention, which is for formation in discernment and how back on June 24th he met with over 6,000 seminarians from five continents who gathered in Rome as part of the Jubilee of Seminarians, Bishops and Priests.
And it's Monday, so Gus invites listeners to call in for Tell Me Something Good to share what good news is going on in their lives.
