Gus starts off with a health update on Pope Francis. He’s been hospitalized since February 14th with double pneumonia and his condition turned critical on Saturday. He was given heavy levels of oxygen, required a blood transfusion and was in the early stages of kidney failure. Since then, his condition has improved, but is expected to remain in the hospital indefinitely. Gus talks about how his weekend was filled with standby requests from national media outlets, asking him to be ready to join them if Pope Francis did die. Fortunately, that didn’t happen.
Later, Catholic philosopher Bobby Angel calls in to talk about his new book, “The Postmodern Predicament and a Roadmap for Recovery and Restoration,” available from Sophia Institute Press. Bobby begins by answering Gus’ question of what philosophy is and talks about how your thinking defines you. He also breaks down what postmodernism is and the fatal flaws of postmodernist views on the dignity of the human person, contemporary art, including church architecture, and politics.
Afterwards, based on their conversation, Gus asks listeners to call in and talk about what a beautiful Catholic church looks like. And it's Monday, so Gus dedicates plenty of time to Tell Me Something Good with listeners.
Good morning. I listen as often as I can I pray for you as you pray for all of us. This morning (February 25) you mentioned a book for lent. A gentleman’s name on giving up worry for lent. I would love to read it. I was driving and couldn’t write down the name. Thank you and God bless from key largo Florida
I heard your segment on church architecture while driving but I didn’t hear anyone mention the Risen Christ – the most beautiful thing hanging in my church and right above the altar!
