Gus is joined by Fr. Joseph Aytona, C.P.M. who is the rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion in New Franken, Wisconsin, the only Vatican-approved Marian apparition in the United States. Fr. Joseph is a young priest and, before explaining his daily life as a rector of an incredibly important shrine, he shares his vocation story and what attracted him to his order, the Fathers of Mercy. He also shares the story of Our Lady of Champion, which centers around a visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a young Belgian immigrant named Adele Brise, and talks helping school children understand Marian apparitions and what they mean.
Also, in many parts of the country, it's Back to School Week. Gus shares a story about his youngest son John transitioning from being homeschooled to going to a Catholic school and how difficult that was for him and them. He invites listeners to call in and share their back-to-school stories.
And today is Monday so Gus does a couple rounds of Tell Me Something Good with listeners.
