Today is the Feast of St. Benedict, the founder of the Bendectine Order, which continues to thrive today, and the father of Western monasticism. Gus talks a little bit about his life and legacy and is later joined by Fr. Edward Seton-Fittin, OSB, the prior and development director for St. Mary’s Abbey in Morristown, New Jersey, one of the largest Benedictine abbeys in the country. Fr. Edward shares a bit of his vocation story and why he chose to be a Benedictine monk-priest and also shares many of the stories of the great saint. He also discusses what the average day for a monk is by sharing his daily routine. Gus wraps up his tribute to St. Benedict by reading and reflecting on his "12 Steps Towards Humility" in place of Friday w/the Fathers. This is part of the "Rule of St. Benedict."
Also, it's Friday so Gus sets aside some Prayer Time with listeners.
