What is Faith?

What is faith?

In our first reading today from Hebrews 11:1 it says, "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen." The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 26) says, "Faith is man's response to God, who reveals himself and gives himself to man, at the same time bringing man a superabundant light as he searches for the ultimate meaning of his life."

Faith is belief in something for which there may be no "concrete proof." Faith in God is difficult for many today. People want "proof." At some point, no amount of "proof" will be enough. The time comes where you've just got to believe, you've got to let go. That's when things really begin to change.

Father, may our faith in you grow daily, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
