Deacon Tom Dubois, executive director of the National Association of Diaconate Directors calls in to shed some light on the permanent diaconate. Gus frequently gets emails from listeners expressing interest in the permanent diaconate but aren’t really sure what it all entails. Deacon Tom tells Gus and our listeners his story, his discernment process and what ultimately led to him going through with this vocation, to which he felt God was calling him. And, today is the Feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne, the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus’ grandparents. In their honor, Gus declares today Grandparents Day. He shares the story of his grandparents, none of whom Gus really ever knew, and then invites listeners to call in and honor their grandparents.
