In today's Gospel reading from Luke 9, the disciples ask Jesus if He wants them to call down fire from heaven on a Samaritan village that did not welcome Him. Jesus turns and rebukes them.
In the first reading from Zechariah 8, the LORD through the prophet says, "In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, 'Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"
This always reminds me of the witness that we are supposed to be to the world. Wouldn't it be nice if this happened to us? That people would recognize that God is with us, and want to follow Christ? If we keep living out our faith, perhaps more and more people will see that and be attracted to Jesus because of our faith.
Father, may we live our faith in a way that others will be attracted to Christ through our example. Amen.
