In today's Gospel reading from Luke 11, Jesus has some harsh words for the Pharisees about putting on airs. We should heed these words.
In the first reading from Romans 1, St. Paul tackles the tough subject of sexual impurity. He writes, "Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever, Amen."
Pornography is one of the great scourges of our time. And while sexual impurity is indeed a grave sin, I believe St. Paul reveals the greater sin. Sex has become a god to so many. People have set aside the precepts of the one true God to follow their own god, "the mutual degradation of their bodies." This is an offense against not just the Sixth and Ninth Commandments, but, more egregiously, the First Commandment. If you are or have been involved with this, stop, confess and come back to the Lord.
Father, forgive for our impurity. May all our actions be pleasing to you. Amen.
Everything changed. After many years of waking up to Gus in my email box he was gone. Without a word or trace. Searching I found this. No more Gus emails? 😞
