Take Courage

Posted on

A lot of people had a lot of different ideas about who Jesus was. In today’s Gospel reading from Luke 9, Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter responds with, “The Christ of God.” Jesus then tells goes on to tell them about His impending death and resurrection.

In today’s first reading from Haggai 2, the LORD assures the people through the prophet that the job they had undertaken of rebuilding the temple would eventually bear great fruit. He says three times, “Take courage,” and adds, “Do not fear!” Finally, he reassures them that “Greater will be the future glory of this house than the former…and in this place I will give you peace.” This is all a foreshadowing of the true glorious temple that would bring peace: Christ Jesus.

Have you ever been unsure about how to proceed with something that you felt called to do? I think we all have…and still do to some degree. But I believe that God desires us to act boldly, take courage and have no fear! God will bring the results. We just need to keep plugging away and faithfully do God’s work in the world!

Father, give us the holy boldness to fearlessly do your work in the world today, and leave the rest up to you. Amen.
