Today's first reading from Galatians 3 starts with a bang. "O stupid Galatians!" And shortly thereafter, "Are you so stupid?" In our Gospel reading from Luke 11, Jesus tells us what will happen when we ask, seek and knock.
I wonder what St. Paul's words would go over like today. We live in a time where the greatest sin one can commit is to not be nice. And I guess calling someone stupid would be considered not nice. But there's a bigger question, a reality that must be faced. Is it correct?
If I'm honest, I have to admit a great deal of spiritual stupidity. God has been so good and merciful to me, yet I continually turn my back on him through sin. And I often think to myself, "How could you be so stupid?" Perhaps a little dose of reality can be cause for awakening.
Father, forgive my spiritual stupidity. May we learn our lessons and gain wisdom from our current stupidity. Amen.
A parish in IL recently purchased 850 copies of A Minute in the Church: Back to the Basics to give away to parishioners. With Christmas just 2.5 months away, now is the time to order at www.GusLloyd.com.
Just started listening a few months ago. I really like the variety you have on your program. Please tell “Bobby Dee” that his comments the other week about Penn State needing to win the “big ones” was spot on. I can say that as an alumna, class of ‘78 (and I won’t hold your Ohio State loyalty against you!) Blessings!! Anne Martin
