Jesus' Healing Power

Posted on

Solomon has taken over as king after the death of his father, David. In today’s first reading from 1 Kings 8, we read about the ark of the covenant being brought from the City of David to Jerusalem, where Solomon has built a magnificent temple for the Lord. When they brought the ark into the holy of holies, a dark cloud fills the temple. King Solomon says, “The Lord intends to dwell in the dark cloud; I have truly built you a princely house, a dwelling where you may abide forever.”

In the Gospel reading today from Mark 6, we read about how Jesus could not go anywhere without throngs of people coming to him for healing. “Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.” Jesus left no one behind. He healed them all.

So often when we think of healing, we think only of the physical. But Jesus can heal any affliction. He can heal broken hearts, broken relationships, broken finances; there is NOTHING He can’t heal! So be like the people in the towns and villages in today’s Gospel reading. Come to Jesus with ANYTHING in your life that needs healing. Rest assured, you will not be left behind.

Father, give us the faith to know that Jesus can heal anything in our lives. And give us the grace to come to Him in faith asking for our healing. Amen.
