In today's Gospel reading from Luke 6, Jesus heals a man with a withered hand on the sabbath. It doesn't sit well with the scribes and Pharisees.
In the first reading from 1 Corinthians 5, St. Paul points out a specific incident of a man doing something immoral - living with his father's wife. And the people are bragging about it. St. Paul says, "And you are inflated with pride. Your boasting is not appropriate."
It seems that being proud of immorality is nothing new. This is one of the main reasons why Christianity has always been counter-cultural. The world takes pride in immorality, even to the point of insisting everyone celebrate it. But St. Paul offers a solution. If you're not sure what that is, read about it.
Father, forgive us when we celebrate immorality. May we repent, and always turn to you. Amen.
