In our first reading today from Hebrews 10, the sacred author, speaking of Jesus, quotes Psalm 40. "Then I said, As is written of me in the scroll, Behold, I come to do your will, O God."
In the Gospel reading from Mark 3, Jesus speaks of who His family is. "For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."
I think every day of God's will. Perhaps a better way to put it is that I wonder every day what God's will is. That's why I keep a holy card with Thomas Merton's Pilgrim Prayer on my desk and read it daily. So let's end today's reflection with part of that prayer.
"Lord, the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing." Amen
