How to Bring Healing

Posted on

Everyone knows the classic song “Stairway to Heaven,” right? Did you know the title of the song is based on a passage from Scripture? We find it in today’s first reading from Genesis 28. Jacob has a dream about a stairway that goes up to heaven. Check it out.

In our Gospel reading from Matthew 9, we see the story of two healings. One of them Jesus actively planned, the other was rather spontaneous. While Jesus was on the way to heal a synagogue official’s daughter, a woman touches Jesus’ cloak, in faith, and is healed of hemorrhages. Her faith healed her. In the other case, it was the faith of the father that caused a miraculous healing.

This story always reminds me of the power of prayer. We can always come to Jesus for our own needs; we should never feel selfish or ashamed. Jesus wants us to reach out to Him in faith. We can also bring others to Jesus, even if they have no faith. This is especially true of our children who have fallen away from the faith. Whoever has need of healing – you or those you care about – can be brought before our healing Lord. He desires all to be healed.

Father, heal our wounds, and all those who need healing. We ask this in faith through Christ our Lord. Amen.
