Today the Church celebrates the Feast of The Holy Guardian Angels. In the first reading from Exodus 23, God sends an angel to the Hebrew people "to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared."
The Gospel reading from Matthew 18 is where we get the teaching from the Lord Jesus about guardian angels. He says, "See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father."
Here's what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says about guardian angels: "From its beginning until death human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. 'Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.' Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God." CCC 336
Father, we thank you for the gift of our guardian angel. May we always be mindful of them until we meet in heavenly glory. Amen.
