Faith?

Posted on

Faith is a theme that runs through the readings today. In the first reading from Hebrews 11, we read the definition of faith. Are you familiar with it? Read it! The sacred author talks about Abraham and others who died in faith.

In the Gospel reading from Mark 4, Jesus is asleep in a boat when a great storm comes upon the sea. The frightened disciples awaken Jesus, who then calms the wind and the sea. He then asks them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?”

Now, I like to think that I have faith in Christ. I’m sure the disciples thought the same. Yet they were still terrified at the storm. Who can blame them? We should always remember Jesus’ reaction. He took care of them. He’ll do the same for us – if we have faith.

Father, you know how weak our faith can be. Help us to put our trust in Christ more and more each day. Amen.
