Dying for All the People

Posted on

In today's first reading from Ezekiel 37, the LORD speaks of a time of reunification and healing. "There shall be one prince for them all. Never again shall they be two nations, and never again shall they be divided into two kingdoms. There shall be one shepherd for them all."

In the Gospel reading from John 11, Caiaphas, the high priest "prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, and not only for the nation, but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God."

Jesus came to  reunite the tribes of Israel, to rebuild - in a perfect way - the kingdom of David. But He also came to die for the Gentiles as well. He came to die for all the people, including you and me. That's the kind of God we serve.

Father, we thank you that Jesus came to die for all the people. May we share that Good News with all the people of the world. Amen.
