Be An Instrument

Posted on

it is important for us in our Christian walk to be childlike. Jesus speaks of why this is important in our Gospel reading from Matthew 11.

In the first reading from Isaiah 10 we read about how an instrument can take no credit for that which it accomplishes. "Will the axe boast against him who hews with it? Will the saw exalt itself above him who wields it? As if a rod could sway him who lifts it, or a staff him who is not wood!"

This is a reminder to us that we are simply instruments in the hands of God. The good things that we accomplish can only be done with and through God's grace. And the more we open ourselves to that grace, the more God can accomplish through us.

Father, we want to do great things for your kingdom. May we always be open to accepting your grace so that your will may be done in and through us. Amen.
