A Sacrifice of Praise

Posted on

In today's first reading from Hebrews 13, the sacred author writes, "Through Jesus, let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name."

Our relationship with God has numerous facets, which should include petition, thanksgiving and praise. As with most anything in life, we must balance these. Perhaps there will be times when one may be more prevalent than the others. I find this often to be the case with petition. We can find ourselves always asking God for something. We can often thank Him profusely when our prayers are answered. But God is always deserving of our praise. Not because of anything He’s done, but just because He is God. He created us and loves us and watches over us. So let’s be sure to offer up a sacrifice of praise continually! Praise God!

Father, we love you and we praise you. May our sacrifice of praise be always on our lips. Amen.
