Gus revisits his 60 Second Reflection, entitled “Breathless,” which focuses on today's First Reading from 1 Kings. In it, the Queen of Sheba is left breathless after witnessing firsthand the wisdom of Solomon and the glory of the temple. Gus talks about how, ideally, we should be left breathless when we receive Jesus in the Eucharist. He talks about spiritual moments in his life that left him breathless and invites listeners to call in and share something or some moment in their faith lives that left them breathless.

Also, Colin MacIver from Ascension Press, and campus minister at St. Scholastica Academy in Covington, Louisiana, calls in to talk about their Lenten Companion, which can help Catholics, or anybody, in their Lenten journey.

Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN calls in as well to talk with Gus about some news items of Catholic interest, including the fallout that continues surrounding the Vatican document Fiducia supplicans. It lays out guidelines blessings for couples in irregular situations, particularly same-sex couples. The bishops of Africa have expressed their opposition to this document and state that they cannot bless same-sex relationships in any way. In England, a body of priests have written the pope expressing their opposition to Fiducia supplicans and asking him to withdraw the document. They also talk about the controversy at the Shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes in Lourdes, France and the mosaics by Fr. Marko Rupnik, who’s been accused of psychological, spiritual and sexual abuse, that are hanging in the sanctuary. The bishop is considering whether or not to remove them. Lastly, they talk about Blessed Pope Pius IX, the longest reigning elected pope in history. He led the Catholic Church for 32 years, from 1846 to 1878, which was a tumultuous time in Europe.

And we're one week away from Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. Gus does another installment of Reading or Rosary.
