Gus talks about how he’s now on his third wedding ring. The first one, which he got back in 1970, was from the old department store, Service Merchandise, which went out of business nearly 25 years ago. He upgraded several years after that, but that one recently broke, and he’s since replaced it. Gus invites listeners to call in and share their wedding ring stories.
Also, Gus discusses a public dust-up between a few American bishops. Chicago Cardinal Archbishop Blasé Cupich has decided to award pro-abortion Catholic U.S. Senator Dick Durbin with an award at the upcoming Keep Hope Alive immigration fundraiser from the Archdiocese’s Office of Human Dignity and Solidarity. What makes it ironic is that Durbin is a vociferous supporter of abortion up to and including the moment of birth, which is in direct violation of Catholic moral teaching, and has been barred from receiving holy communion in his home Diocese of Springfield, Illinois since 2004. Several bishops, including Springfield Bishop Thomas Paprocki and San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, have publicly voiced their opposition to this. Gus invites listeners to call in and weigh in on the subject.
