It's ordination season so Gus talks about new priests and asks listeners to call in and dispense what advice they'd give, or wisdom they'd share, to priests who are being ordained in these coming weeks.
Also, Fr. Leo Patalinghug joins Gus. It's his 22nd anniversary as a priest and he reflects on the ups and downs of his priesthood and how things have changed in the world, in the Church and in his ministry over those years. He also gives an update on his food truck, Plating Grace & Grub, which is now fully functional and staffed.
Cathy’s response was spot on snd I’m sure her sentiments echo many Catholics. Our ordinations here in the UP were closed and by invitation only this year. It was live-streamed so at least we had a wonderful opportunity to witness.
First, thank you for sharing our faith in such a positive, uplifting way.
I wasn’t able to call in this morning but the above would have been my “advice” to a new priest: stay true to our Catholic doctrine, but share it with JOY and relevance to our lives.
Also, realize that you don’t really have to prove your knowledge to us as a new priest, just the kind of man and leader will become! There are so many ways to do that, and each priest will have their own way, which makes it relate to so many different people.
