Today is Gus’ dad’s birthday. He died back in 2008 and Gus always gets choked up when this day arrives. He talks about how his dad and his brother and him were involved in a family-owned lawn maintenance and landscaping company back in the 1980s and 90s called Lloyds of Lawndom. It ended somewhat acrimoniously, although, in the end, it served to strengthen their relationship and led to Gus’ second radio career. He invites listeners who’ve been involved in a family business to call in and share their experiences.
Also, Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN News calls in to talk about several news items of Catholic interest, including the country of Mexico electing its first female president, Claudia Sheinbaum who advocates for abortion, gender ideology and other anti-Catholic interests. Similarly, further south in Chile, where the bishops there are pushing back against President Gabriel Boric’s advocacy for abortion. Also, keeping with the Culture of Death theme, in the Netherlands, a healthy 29-year-old woman named Zoraya ter Beek was euthanized because of her chronic depression and Melinda Gates, Bill Gates’ ex-wife and a Catholic, is donating millions of dollars to promote abortion around the world. They wrap it up with Pope Francis telling a gay man in an Italian seminary to continue pursuing his vocation.
