Gus talks about a very moving call he got at the end of the show yesterday from Mike in Chicago whose nephew Joey died from cancer three weeks ago at the young age of eight. Gus was talking with listeners who lost, or nearly lost, a child and Mike, who'd never listened to the channel, religious radio as a whole, isn't Catholic, or religious for that matter, and has never called into a radio program before felt compelled to call in and share his struggle with Gus. Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and share how they discovered the Catholic Channel.
Also, Lent is two weeks from today and Gus is still trying to figure out when his penance or sacrifice is going to be. He offers listeners their Lenten penance in the form of reading or Rosary. Those who call in and choose reading will get a copy of either Magnetic Christianity or one of his Minute in the Church books. Those who choose Rosary will receive a Holy Land Rosary. The catch is, they must either read from the book or pray the Rosary every day during Lent.
And, it's Catholic Schools Week so Elizabeth Goettl, president and CEO of the Cristo Rey Network, calls in to talk about their unique network of Catholic high schools. Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and brag on their favorite Catholic school.
Hardship: seeking for help on how to seek for financial support to keep my two boys in Catholic School. They attend catholic school since the age of 3, now my situation changed after a divorce, I need help (resources).
