This morning, Gus was talking about how, in Matthew's Gospel that was read at mass this past Sunday, when Pontius Pilate asks the crowd what he should do with Jesus, after the voted to release Barabbas, they all shout, "Let him be crucified." In Mark, Luke and John's Gospels, it's all variations of the crowd directly chanting, "Crucify him!" Gus says that, "Let him be crucified" kind of lets the individual off the hook. That comment generates several calls from listeners, several of whom wonder if the translation was changed at some point.
Also, today is the final day of Lent. The Triduum, the shortest season in the liturgical calendar, begins tomorrow, so Gus invites listeners to call in and give their final Lent grades.
