Gus is joined by Catholic author Joel S. Peters to talk about his new book, “Sola Scriptura Doesn’t Work: 25 Reasons to Reject the Doctrine of ‘Bible Alone,’” available from Catholic Answers. Sola Scriptura is a belief shared mostly by our Protestant brothers and sisters and simply means that all truth necessary for our salvation and spiritual life is taught either explicitly or implicitly in Sacred Scripture. Gus and Joel talk about the many of the flaws in that theology and Joel provides concrete examples of how many of the assumptions of sola scriptura don’t line up with every day, practical experience with billions of people over a millennium.
Later, Gus talks about how his mother, who is 84, recently adopted a cat and how much having animals to care for means to her. It means a lot to him and Michelle too. He invites listeners to call in and talk about a pet who has a special place in their hearts.
And Gus remembers actor James Earl Jones who passed away yesterday at the age of 93. He talks about how, as a person who makes a living using his voice, he holds the late EGOT winner in high esteem. He talks about some of his great roles, including the voice of Darth Vader and Mufasa in the Lion King, and plays a clip from his favorite roles, Terence Mann in “Field of Dreams,” and plays his famous speech from the movie. Afterwards, he invites listeners to call in and talk about a celebrity who means a lot to them.
I wondered the same thing. Why the 10th episode is not available on Sirius XM?
Is there a reason that this episode is not on the app?
