Gus plays audio from the opening prayer of the 117th Congress from Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver. It was a pretty good prayer up until the end where he says "Amen and a-woman." Gus explains the word's Hebrew origin, what it means and how it's used by the Catholic Church. He also talks about Congress' effort to erase the words "him," "her," "mother," "father," etc. and how dangerous this is. He urges Church and civic leaders to squash this now before it's too late.

Later, Gus welcomes Dr. Grazie Pozo Christie back to the program to talk about the coronavirus vaccine, the effects of the lockdowns and asks her if the pandemic was used as a political weapon by power-hungry politicians.

Also, Gus reads a piece written recently by Msgr. Charles Pope entitled "5 Hard Truths We've Come to See with 2020 Vision," which looks back on the tumultuous year and talks about what we've lost, or may lose, as a society as a result of the national response. Gus gets listener response.

Gus, I agree with you that church and civic leaders should condemn and ignore this idiocy of gender neutral words put forth by Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats. However, I will not hold my breath waiting for the church leaders, especially the Council of Bishops, to say anything. Their lack of leadership over the years has helped get us here.

I loved the article you shared about 2020 and the interview with Dr. Christie. Your show is always high quality and I count it a blessing in my faith life. The article spoke to me so much I shared it on my Facebook. We’ll see how that goes. I’m hopeful someone who normally wouldn’t see it otherwise will get some insight from it.
