Today, Gus remembers Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who passed away on Saturday, December 31st. He talks with listeners who shared their memories of and encounters with the late pontiff.
Fr. Leo Patalinghug calls in and recounts the few times he met Pope Benedict XVI and the impression that he left. They also talk about New Year's resolutions and how they need to be spiritual because we will fail, and our spiritual training teaches us to get after you fall down.
We also hear from Russ Hittinger, a professor emeritus of religion at the University of Tulsa calls in to talk about his remembrances of the late Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Russ met with the pope several times and served his pontificate as an ordinarius at the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences and as a member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Gus also reminisces about hearing the news back in 2013 that Pope Benedict XVI had resigned and talks about how that news impacted him and how he feels about it now.
