Gus is joined by Dr. Richard Sherlock, co-editor of the new book “Catholic Engagement with Latter-Day Saints,” available from Ignatius Press. Dr. Sherlock, himself, is a convert from Mormanism. He shares some of his conversion story and talks about some aspects of the Mormon faith and how it differs greatly from Catholicism. Afterwards, Gus talks about how all young men and women between certain ages for each gender who practice their Mormon faith are required to do missionary work. Gus talks about his encounters with Mormon missionaries, as well as other faith traditions, and invites listeners to call in and share their stories.
Later, Bob Dunning calls in to talk about this weekend’s only game, the great Army v. Navy matchup. Afterwards, they go over the First Round of the College Football Playoff and pick the winners.
When the Mormons have finished their witness, they will ask if you had a burning in your bosom to confirm that what they said was true. We do not test spiritual beliefs by feeling for Jeremiah 17:9 says that the heart is more deceitful than all else. Their God was once a man on another planet who lived a good life and got to become God over planet earth. Their Jesus was his firstborn son and therefore had to be the first to be resurrected from the dead and could have died from old age to achieve this, the Cross of Christ means nothing to them.
