Gus talks about his hometown of Fairborn, Ohio and a couple of celebrities who grew up there, including the late astronaut Gus Grissom and former Baltimore Ravens head coach, Brian Billick. He invites listeners to call in and share what makes their hometown famous.

Later, Bob Dunning calls in and talks about the state of the college football season. Many conferences have gone to conference-only schedules and have delayed the start of the season by almost a month. Earlier this week, independent UConn elected not to play at all this season. They also talk about the new name, image and likeness rule in college sports and Bob shares that his hometown of Davis, California is known as the Tomato Capital of the World.

And, since Seize the Day will be off tomorrow, Gus does Prayer Time today.

Hey Gus, Not sure if you saw the article regarding a church in Ohio and how (1) person infected 93 others – CNN (8/6/20 graphic & story when I went to Google). Anyways, I just thought it ironic coming so soon after Sen John Lewis’s funeral. I did a double-take to check if it was about Ebenezer Baptist Church:) I do believe there is a deliberate attempt to make church attendance seem risky and dangerous – far more so than it actually is, especially if the Covid rules are in place. Thanks for giving me assurance that I am not alone in my frustration at the double standard:) God Bless! Michele
