Today is the Feast of St. Simon Stock so Gus talks a little bit about the brown scapular, which is a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the form of a piece of cloth worn like a necklace that is a symbol of obedience to God's will and devotion to Our Lady. It was given by her to St. Simon Stock, the father general of the Carmelite Order, in 1251. Gus invites listeners who wear a brown scapular, or any other external sign of devotion, to call in and talk about why.
Also, yesterday in St. Peter's Square in Rome, Pope Francis canonized 10 new saints, including Blessed Charles de Foucauld whose story we shared on Seize the Day last month. Gus talks a little bit about each saint.
And Gus does a little Tell Me Something Good with listeners.
