Gus goes over the history of today's feast day, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. It was an effort by Pope Pius XII to combat the rise of communism, which pretended to coddle the worker. The pope's intention was to give dignity to the worker through the prism of faith, how there must be a balance and how that can only be accomplished through following Jesus' teachings. Gus invites listeners to call in and share how their faith merges with their daily work.
Also, Gus is joined by Dr. Alex Lessard, founder and president of Adeodatus, an educational non-profit organized to support the ongoing renewal of Catholic liberal education through conferences, community-building, publication, consulting and due diligence. He and Gus chat a bit about the current state of Catholic education in the United States and talk about the upcoming Adeodatus Conference, June 21-24 in Pasadena, California.
And it's Monday, so Gus does a couple rounds of Tell Me Something Good with listeners.
