Today is the Feast of St. James the Greater, so Gus shares some of the story of St. James, and about his connection with St. James from walking the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago) in Spain.
Gus is joined by Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, IL to talk about the bishop's recent article in his diocesan newspaper "Politicians/business leaders who promote abortion policies/benefits are not to receive Holy Communion." The bishop explains why he wrote it and how it should affect the faithful.
And as is the case every Monday, listeners call and share some good news on today's episode of Tell Me Something Good!
It is very difficult if not impossible to claim to be a “practicing” Catholic in the current times. Clearly one cannot look to Pope Francis for pastoral guidence, especially in the context of the question of abortion and receiving the Holy Eucharist and mortal sin. The reality is Catholics today, just in reading the words of and listening to today on the show the responses of Most Reverend Thomas J. Paprocki, have no where to go for pastoral guidance. The fact is the Catholic Church and its Leaders have not learned anything from the child abuse scandal about Leadership and taking clear public actions. If the Pope cannot be clear on what is such a truly moral issue of protecting life from abortion, and other Catholic Leaders are hesitant to take a stand on “life”. why should any real Catholic listen any more? Or support any more what is in fact another Global Political Party. And not a true religion. Sin has no meaning in the “Party”. It is up for debate among the elite. And Christ isn’t in the Party anymore.
