It's Holy Thursday, which means we have entered the Easter Triduum and, since there's no morning mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City today, Gus goes live @ 7:00 am ET and opens by playing a special examination of the Bread of Life Discourse from one of his teaching CDs he recorded at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lutz, Florida.
Tonight, we'll be celebrating the Mass of the Lord's Supper where, typically, the priest will wash the feet of 12 parishioners gathered around the altar. Gus asks listeners to call in and share how they do it and how they select those whose feet will be washed. Afterwards, Gus talks with listeners about their unique Easter traditions.
Later, Gus talks with Dr. Brant Pitre about the Jewish roots of the Eucharist, which you can read about in his book "Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist: Unlocking the Secrets of the Last Supper."
And, since tomorrow is Good Friday and Seize the Day won't be live, Gus does a special Holy Thursday Prayer Time.
Gus, I really enjoyed the 14 stations of the cross presentation on Good Friday. Can you tell me who did the narrative and sang? It was very inspiring!
