Gus is joined by former NBA star Joe Kleine. The two met last weekend at a fundraiser for Ark of Heaven Media and Gus asked him to come on the show and share his faith journey. Joe grew up in a Catholic family and even got a scholarship to play basketball at Notre Dame. After one season, he transferred to Arkansas where he was a star and even played for the U.S. National Team in the 1984 Olympics, coached by Bob Knight. He got drafted in the first round by the Sacramento Kings and played in the NBA for 15 seasons. All this impacted his faith both positively and negatively, which ultimately made it stronger. He tells Gus that, at the height of his basketball success, he didn't practice his faith very much, which he now regrets. But he eventually did and uses it to serve others. He shares his faith journey with Gus and the listeners.
Later, Gus reads excerpts from a pastoral letter recently issued by Oklahoma City Archbishop Paul Coakley - On the Unity of the Body and Soul: Accompanying Those Experiencing Gender Dysphoria.
Also, in today's Friday w/the Fathers, Gus continues with St. Basil the Great's "Rules Briefly Treated" and sets aside some Prayer Time with listeners.
