Fr. J. Augustine Wetta, O.S.B. calls in to talk about his new book, "Pray. Think. Act. Making Better Decisions with the Desert Fathers." He shares his vocation story, which is interesting to say the least, and talks about this purpose of his book and why he focuses on the Desert Fathers. He shares that they were Christian extremists for the time who wanted to be martyred. The only problem was, the whole world was becoming Christian so they were out of luck. They decided to become spiritual martyrs instead and went to the desert to live austere lives that were very challenging. These men were very decisive and that's what Fr. Wetta wants to reader to take away from his book. It's all about discernment to find out what God is asking of you and then put it into action with Jesus at the center of it.
Afterwards, Gus does his weekly Friday w/the Fathers segment and begins Volume 2 of William A. Jurgens' "Faith of the Early Fathers," which starts with the writings of St. Basil the Great.
And it wouldn't be Friday without Gus engaging in some Prayer Time with listeners.
