You Follow Me

Posted on

In Acts 28 today, we see Paul continuing in his ministry, even while in custody. Oh, that we could all have the evangelistic spirit of St. Paul! In the Gospel reading from John 21, Peter sees John coming toward him and Jesus and asks Jesus, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus’ reply is interesting.

Jesus tells Peter, “What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is that of yours? You follow me.”

Do you find that we so often live our lives by comparison? We’re so intent on being about others’ business that we sometimes forget to take care of our own business (spiritually speaking). Could it be that if we’re so interested in being busybodies – What about them, Lord? Why do they get a pass? – we fail to do God’s will in our lives? Perhaps Jesus is saying to us, “Stop worrying about them. You follow me.”

Father, forgive us for being busybodies about others. Help us to follow Jesus in the way the He is calling us to follow. Amen.
