Today I'll reflect on the readings for the Seventh Sunday of Easter, though most folks will be celebrating the Feast of the Ascension. I did a reflection on those readings Thursday.
In the Gospel reading from John 17, Jesus says of His disciples, "Father, they are your gift to me."
Have you ever thought of someone as a gift? I feel that way about a lot of people in my life. They are a gift from God. But have you ever thought about yourself as a gift? I think it's hard for us (me, anyway) to think that way. But you are a gift. You are a gift to those people in your life that you touch. And you are a gift to Jesus. A precious, priceless gift. Don't ever forget that. He doesn't.
Father, thank you for the many people you have gifted us with. May we also see ourselves as a gift to them, and to you Son, Christ Jesus. Amen.
