Who Am I?

Posted on

I've often said that I am a kindred spirit with King David. Today's first reading from 2 Samuel 7 is just one of the reasons.

Nathan the prophet has just told David that his kingdom would go on forever. Sitting before the LORD, David says "Who am I, Lord GOD, and who are the members of my house, that you have brought me to this point?" The humble shepherd marveled at all that God had done for him.

I feel very much the same. Don't you? I've often said I'm just a goofy kid from a small midwest town that God has taken to amazing places and blessed with so many amazing people. I always marvel at this and ask the same question that David did. Who am I, Lord, that you should bless me beyond my wildest dreams? And the answer comes simply enough. "You are my beloved child."

Father, thank you for the many blessings you have showered upon us. May we always marvel at your goodness and be ever thankful. Amen.
