In today's first reading from Acts 7, we read about the martyrdom of St. Stephen. The last line of today's reading says, "Now Saul was consenting to his execution." There's a great scene in the new movie Paul, Apostle of Christ that has to do with St. Stephen. (You should see it.)
We continue in John 6 and the Bread of Life discourse in our Gospel reading. The people ask Jesus, "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do?" Little did they know...
Jesus was speaking of the Eucharist. He knew that in a very short time, He would give the world the greatest sign ever, and forever. His Flesh to eat and His Blood to drink. He has given the greatest sign, the greatest miracle in history. A miracle that will remain until He comes again.
Father, so many miss the sign - the Body and Blood of the Lord. May we see it more clearly and share the message with all of the Holy Eucharist. Amen.
