Pope Francis recently welcomed a group of seminarians to Rome and he told them to not be “orphan priests” who are motherless without Mary and he also urged them not give boring homilies but rather brief and powerful ones. Gus asks his listeners to explain what they think the difference is between a good and bad homily.

Gus also welcomes Steve Weidenkopf, a lecturer of Church History from Christendom College, to talk about St Catherine of Siena and her role in bringing the papacy back to Rome from Avignon, France in the 14th century. To read Steve’s article, click here.

Following that discussion, Gus asks his listeners to call in and share who their spiritual heroes are.
