Today's "golden thread" is about healing. In the first reading from Isaiah 35 we read, "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; Then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the mute will sing."
In the Gospel reading from Luke 5, some men bring a paralyzed friend of theirs to Jesus. The house where He is is so crowded they have to lower him through the roof. Jesus heals the man, he gets up and walks away. After this, the people were "struck with awe" and they said, "We have seen incredible things today."
I'm sure that you, too, have seen God do incredible things. I know I have. I believe God does incredible things in our lives every day. The problem is we either don't recognize them, or we don't see them as incredible. Like the people in today's Gospel passage, we should be "struck with awe" at the very fact that God has graced us with another day. Look around! All of God's blessings are incredible!
Father, open our eyes to see the incredible things you give to us and do for us daily. Amen.
