We Are the Lord's

Posted on

Ever feel like a lost sheep? Fret not, my friend! God is always reaching out for you. Jesus tells a parable about that in today's Gospel reading from Luke 15. In the first reading from Romans 14, St. Paul tells us to whom we belong.

None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's." Romans 14:7-8

St. Paul was writing to believers. Of course, people who don't put their faith and trust in Christ can be much more self-seeking and self-serving. I'm afraid that's happening at epidemic proportions these days. As people abandon faith, who are they serving. Bob Dylan once sang, "You're gonna have to serve somebody." If you don't belong to the Lord, then you belong to the other guy. Let's be sure that we say, "We are the Lord's."

Father, help us to always serve you alone, through Christ Jesus the Lord. Amen.
