Gus devotes much of his show to what he calls “extra-curricular” Catholics; that is, Catholics who get involved in ministry, who go to conferences, retreats, etc. and the benefits of that. He takes calls from listeners who are involved in all sorts of extra-curricular Catholic activities.
Then, John O’Leary, author of the book “On Fire,” calls in. In January, 1987, after a 5-gallon tank exploded in front of him, he suffered third-degree burns on nearly 90% of his body and survived. He was only nine. His book talks about how his faith, and the immense love of his parents, got him through it and how he uses that as a teaching/evangelizing tool today.
