Time

Today is the Second Sunday of Advent. Of course, the theme of Advent is to be prepared as we await the second coming of Christ. Today's second reading from 2 Peter speaks to this. "But according to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you await these things, be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him, at peace."

The reading begins, though, with St. Peter talking about our perception of time, as opposed to God's time. "Do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day."

While we are bound by time, we must remember that God is not. That's why I always tell people that God always answers our prayers, but in His time. So remember - Jesus may return tomorrow or in 10,000 years. However that looks in God's time, we must be prepared today, and every day, for His return.

Father, may we always be prepared for the return of Jesus, for we know that it will happen in your perfect time, not ours. Amen.
