There are two common elements in today's readings - a mountain and food. Here's the beginning of the first reading from Isaiah 25: "On this mountain the LORD of hosts will provide for all peoples a feast of rich food and choice wines, juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines."
In the Gospel reading from Matthew 15, Jesus feeds an enormous crowd with just seven loaves and a few fish. "They all ate and were satisfied."
The mountain in Isaiah 25 is our altar. It is where the Lord feeds us the "rich food and pure, choice wines." But this is not just any food and drink. Jesus gives us His Body and Blood. Think of this: the most ordinary Mass is far greater than any earthly feast. It is, in fact, the ultimate feast, where the Lord feeds us, that we, too, may eat and be satisfied.
Father, we thank you for providing for us the ultimate feast - the Body and Blood of Christ, that we may live. Amen.
