The Resurrection of the Body

Posted on

1 Corinthians 15 is St. Paul’s treatise on the resurrection of the dead. More in a moment. In today’s Gospel reading from Luke 8, Jesus tells the parable of the sower. His disciples didn’t understand, so He spelled it out for them. Read it.

As Christians, we believe in the resurrection of the body – that when Christ returns, we will all be raised from the dead and given new bodies. We don’t know exactly what that will look like. Neither does St. Paul, but he gives us some insight in today’s first reading.

“It is sown corruptible; it is raised incorruptible…It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.” Will we receive flesh and blood again? Will we be like angels, pure spirit? Who knows? The important thing is that we will live forever in these new bodies, never to see death again. Alleluia!

Father, may we grow in trust and love for you, with faith in Christ Jesus, that we may reap the eternal reward awaiting those who believe. Amen.

    Hi Gus,

Your reflection today was very to the point. My dad passed away today. A faith filled man. Your words are of comfort and the foundation of his and our Catholic faith. Amen!

Thanks! I also enjoy listening to you every morning on my way to work!

    David
