Today's first reading from the Book of Wisdom is one you heard if you followed the liturgy for All Souls' Day. It speaks to the eternal disposition of the faithful departed.
"But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are in peace." Wisdom 3:1-3
November is the month when we remember the faithful departed in the Catholic faith. But for those of us who have lost loved ones, usually not a day goes by that we don't think of them. We commend them into the hand of God, and await a joyful reunion with them when our time comes.
Father, we trust in your mercy, and pray for our beloved dead, confident that they are with you. Amen.
