In the first reading today from Genesis 32, Jacob gets in an all night wrestling match with a man. But is it a man? The man says, "You shall no longer be spoken of as Jacob, but as Israel, because you have contended with divine and human beings and have prevailed."
In the Gospel reading from Matthew 9, we read more about the healing power of Jesus. "Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness."
There is nothing that is beyond the healing power of Jesus. Sometimes when we're ill or infirm, especially chronically, we may wonder if this is even too much for Jesus. Or we think that He doesn't want to cure us, perhaps because of our sinfulness. Never lose hope. Maybe you're being cured in an unexpected way, or being cured of something you weren't even aware of. Whatever you're suffering with, there is a cure - Jesus. Reach out to Him in faith.
Father, increase our faith in the Divine Physician, Jesus. May we be cured of all our ills in His name. Amen.
