Today is the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. It was instituted in 1955 by Pope Pius XII in part to combat communist ideology.
My wife, Michelle, and I recently did the Consecration to St. Joseph. I highly recommend the book by Fr. Donald Calloway and the process of consecrating yourself and your family to St. Joseph. It's a 33 day process that I know will be a blessing to you.
The dignity of work is a hallmark of humanity. Now it's obvious that some people simply can't work. This does not reduce their dignity one iota. But we are all called to be productive, to contribute to society. St. Joseph gives us the model of work. He was the protector and provider for Jesus and Mary. Let us thank God for the dignity of work, and ask for the intercession of St. Joseph in our lives and in the world.
Father, through the intercession of St. Joseph, may we diligently work to provide for ourselves and our families and the building of the Kingdom of God. Amen.
I could not agree more Gus. I have done the Consecration three times and it has changed my life. Getting to know Joseph has truly been a blessing!
